Importance of fans in the operation of an a/c system

It is very important for every vehicle with air conditioning to have an engine fan to pull the air through the condenser and the radiator. The best operational system has the fan with the shroud assembly. The correct way to use a shroud is to have the blades of the fan sitting half in and out of the shroud. If the fan is all the way inside of the shroud it will not be able to pull air through properly.

If you are lacking the factory fan shroud assembly it is crucial to the operation of the a/c system to install an auxiliary condenser fan. This fan should be mounted on the front of the condenser to help push the air through the condenser. Without the shroud it is also very important for you to build a barrier around the area between the condenser and the radiator to create a tunnel effect for the air to flow through. This barrier/wall can be made by using foam. The purpose of the foam is so that the air flows through the condenser to the radiator and not around them, hence the tunnel effect.

**Please note that even if you have a fan shroud we would still recommend foaming on top of the condenser and radiator.

The first photo shows the factory fan shroud and the foam on top of the condenser and radiator. The second photo shows an auxiliary condenser fan mounted.
